溪口厝位于潮州近郊，基地约16米×12米，临溪有4米高差。房主为退休老人，限高15米内需容十间房，兼顾亲戚团聚与乡邻接待。设计在追问一个乡村的问题：私宅能否延续乡村邻里生活，引入适度的公共属性？
建筑分为“下院”与“上宅”两部分：
下院为单层水平体量，以“井”字形框架围合院落。连续混凝土墙仅留前后两圆洞，延续潮汕民居内向特质。横向长墙贯通内外，纵向砌块叠合成多重叠院，空间隔而不断，视线与风在院落间流转。中心浅池锚定空间，南侧茶亭半开敞三开间，野草覆顶，面溪向竹，主人常以工夫茶待客。北侧起居厅两层通高，推拉门可完全打开，室内外融为一体。主客路径交汇于此，起居厅成为私密与公共间的柔性过渡。
上宅为四层垂直体量，首层公共起居，二三层居室，四层坡顶阁楼。外墙双层砌体留空腔隔热防潮，面层为水泥空心砖与青砖。楼梯错位转折，居室间设洞口，创造“多孔性”，不同楼层视线交汇，营造共居氛围。三层阳台连通，形成檐下连续空间，如面向田野溪流的水平长卷。坡屋顶呼应老村风貌，密肋结构支撑三角形阁楼，天窗引入柔和漫射光，空间留白预留未来可能。
溪口厝在疫情期间建成，老人生活目前平缓延续。“下院”与“上宅”共同回应了业主的愿望：一座容纳家族团聚、又向邻里敞开的场所。

Located in suburban Chaozhou, Xikoucuò Dwelling sits on a 16-by-12-meter plot with a 4-meter drop by the creek. The retired owner requires ten rooms for family and neighbors. The question: can a private home sustain rural community life with public openness?
The design splits into two parts:
The Lower Courtyard is a single-story volume enclosed by a concrete frame. Only two circular openings pierce the walls. A central pool anchors the space; a three-bay tea pavilion to the south, faces the creek and bamboo, where the owner hosts Gongfu tea. The north living room, double-height with sliding doors, merges indoors and outdoors. Where guest and host paths meet, this room becomes a flexible boundary between private and public.
The Upper House rises four stories: ground-floor common room, bedrooms above, and a pitched attic. Cavity walls insulate against heat and moisture, clad in hollow bricks and blue brick. Staggered stairs and openings between rooms allow visual connections across levels. A continuous third-floor balcony forms a horizontal view over fields and stream. The pitched roof echoes village tradition; skylights bring soft light; blank spaces await future use.
Xikoucuò Dwelling now sustains the owner's quiet routine. Together, both parts fulfill his wish: a home for family gatherings that remains open to neighbors.
