We embrace density through "nature" and "community," imagining the school as a "green valley within the community." Four strategies:
From "vertical tower" to "horizontal valley" — stretching and twisting the vertical mass into a U-shaped horizontal ring, reducing building height from 70m to 28m to ease community pressure.
From "repetitive floors" to "three-dimensional courtyards" — the old and new campuses enclose a complete open courtyard, with staggered floor plates creating three-dimensional terraces, bringing natural light and greenery to every level.
From "single mass" to "multi-level terraces" — old and new connect through stepped terraces, with a large elevated gap accommodating sports tracks and vertical circulation linking public spaces.
From "separate campuses" to "home-school integration" — a thin steel-frame outer corridor wraps the existing building, creating a "arcade street" for parent drop-off and community activities, reshaping the community edge.
An integrated ecological facade transforms the old building: a 3m-wide lightweight steel structure turns existing corridors into classroom balconies, releasing southern light.
Over time, Yicui School will gradually become part of the community — a "home within the neighborhood."
