The proposal sees urban renewal as rediscovering life and the surrounding world. It seeks small, low-cost interventions for real urban problems. Focusing on Shenzhen's Dameisha Beach, it responds to environmental crises, facility shortages, and vanishing collective spaces. These interventions act as acupuncture—functioning as infrastructure, public art, and gathering places. A heterotopia of fantasy and reality, set against metropolitan life.
The design explores three questions:
As environmental pressures mount and urban populations surge, how do we balance nature's overload with our growing desire for leisure?
As city life becomes consumed by work and information, can we still stumble upon moments of childlike wonder—and can they be achieved at minimal cost?
As public spaces—including beaches—are increasingly eroded by commercialization, can we restore their social value and collective significance?
