This was our first office, in a typical urban village in Guangzhou—centrally located yet on the edge of development. Though surrounding urban growth has transformed village life, it still retains its characteristic density and rawness—qualities increasingly rare in the city.
At just twenty square meters, the space was to serve as both home and workplace for architects, accommodating as many activities as possible. With a total budget under 20,000 RMB including furniture, every design decision became a direct response to changing realities and construction constraints.
